Based in the Shetland Islands, Avril Thomson Smith is a newly established multi-award-winning Scottish Landscape Artist who is known for her unique artistic designs.  Her artwork draws inspiration from the dramatic scenery, old croft houses and beautiful wildflowers found in Shetland.

Born in 1975 on the most northerly island in the UK, Avril’s childhood was full of freedom and adventure.  She loved to visit her grandparent’s croft in the Southend of Shetland where she explored the remote countryside and enjoyed the quiet crofting lifestyle.  This is where her intrigue for Shetland developed into a love of arts and crafts.

After a 20-year career at Shetland College in the Business Department she decided that it was time to embrace her passion for art and become a Landscape Artist.  Since then, she has developed a beautiful collection of work.  Her Scottish landscapes appeals to audiences worldwide.
